The Rapid Translation System (RTS) from Roche is a scalable in vitro transcription/translation protein expression platform, that produces sufficient amounts of protein for characterization studies, functional assays, or structural analysis. As the Roche RTS ProteoMaster instrument that was so far used for the incubation (heating and mixing) of the RTS reaction chambers was discontinued and will no longer be available, the Eppendorf Thermomixer comfort was tested as an economical and widely available alternative mixer/heater apparatus. The data presented herein demonstrate that results produced with Eppendorf Thermomixer comfort are comparable to results obtained with the ProteoMaster Instrument.
